IOSH People Handling Train the Trainer
Pre-Requisites:
To attend this approved course, learners must:
• Have attended a previous Manual Handling of People training course within the last 2 years – proof will be required
• Have understanding and knowledge of Health and Social Care services
Course Learning Objectives:
Following successful completion of this course and assessments, you will:
Be able to deliver Manual Handling of People training within your own organisations,to the relevant standards and framework.
• Define a range of terms for Manual Handling
• Identify key legislation, and the requirements of these
• Obtain an awareness of the spine and its functions
• Explore and carry out safe practices of manual handling
• Indicate unsafe, condemned lifting practices in the health and social care sector
Who This Course Is For:
The course is specifically designed to provide learners with the skills and knowledge required to deliver manual handling training to their own staff.
It closely follows the principles outlined in modules A-F of the benchmark moving and handling standard in Scotland and Wales and is therefore ideal for those wishing to deliver a high standard of moving and handling training to others.
Course Duration:
This course is delivered over 5 days, which consists of approximately 35 hours classroom-based teaching.
Learners will be required to carry out approximately 10 hours of home study in order to produce final assessments for marking and certification.
You will be provided with contact details for Insight Training Academy where you can receive further support and guidance during and after course completion.
Training Materials:
Learners will be provided with a training pack at the beginning of the course.
The information within this pack will allow learners to enhance their knowledge and understanding of Manual Handling of People within Health and Social Care.
The training pack will consist of:
• Assessment guidelines and information
• Learner Information Handbook
Certificates:
On successful completion of the training course, learners will receive an IOSH approved course certificate.
Renewal training will take place every 3 years and learners will be contacted via email.
