Level 3 Award in Education and Training

Pre – Requisites:

There are no pre-requisites set for this course although learners must be able to manage workload and home study effectively. 

Course Duration:

This course is delivered over 5 days, split over 7-8 weeks, which consists of approximately 35 hours classroom-based teaching.  You will be required to carry out assessment preparation for this qualification as part of home study.

  • Understand legislation relating to your role as a trainer/teacher
  • Identify suitable ways to work in a variety of teaching settings

Training Materials:

You will be provided with a training pack at the beginning of the course.  The information within this pack will allow you to enhance your knowledge and understanding of Education and Training, along with:

  • Assessment guidelines and information
  • Learner Information Handbook
  • Example paperwork
  • Feedback and support
  • Portfolio of assessment evidence
Assessment

You will be required to complete assessments which will form part of a final portfolio of evidence.  You will be provided with full details at the beginning of the course. 

You will need to complete:

  • 30 minute Micro-Teach presentation – subject of your choice
  • Provide constructive written feedback to your peers
  • Reflective Assignment approx. 1000 words
  • Knowledge Assignment approx. 4500 words
Course Content:
Day 1, 2 and 3Understanding Roles, Responsibilities and Relationships in Education and Training Understand the teaching role and responsibilities Understand ways to maintain a safe and supportive learning environment Understand the relationship between teachers and other professionals   Understanding and Using Inclusive Teaching and Learning Approaches in Education and Training Understand inclusive teaching and learning approaches Understand ways to create an inclusive teaching and learning environment Be able to plan inclusive teaching and learning – Also day 4 Be able to deliver inclusive teaching and learning – Also day 4 Be able to evaluate the delivery of inclusive teaching and learning – Also day 4   Understanding Assessments in Education and Training Understand types and methods of assessment used in education and training Understand how to involve learners and others in the assessment process Understand the role and use of constructive feedback in the assessment process Understand requirements for keeping records of assessment  
Day 4Learners will be required to deliver a micro-teach presentation of 1 hour.  All learners must: Produce a lesson plan outlining aims, objectives, times and content Produce resources and materials to enhance learning experiences Provide feedback forms for peers to evaluate the effectiveness and delivery of micro-teach session   Learners will be required to write a reflective assignment based on their micro-teach delivery identifying: Reason for chosen topic What worked well? Strengths?What were the limitations?What could be adapted?Overall feedback from peers This reflective assignment must be approximately 1000 words
Day 5Learners will be required to produce a portfolio of evidence containing: Curriculum Vitae & Personal StatementContinuous Professional Development Log Micro-Teach resources, materials and peer feedbackReflective Assignment Knowledge Assignment Each portfolio will be marked by the assessor and provided with feedback. 
Qualification Certification:

On final submission of the evidence portfolio, the assessor will arrange for all portfolios to be assessed via an Internal Quality Assurer (IQA) for feedback.  Once this is complete, the portfolios may undergo an External Verification process. 

On final sign off by the Assessor, IQA and EQA, learner information will be uploaded to the Awarding Organisation portal where we will be able to claim for certificates.  From verification date to certificates being received this can be up to 6 weeks.
